Our Family Refresh Weekend

This post is in Collaboration with The Hilton West Palm Beach, however, as always opinions are 100% my own.

A few months ago I mentioned how things were a little rough behind the scenes of Mommyhoodjoy, but that I was okay. I stated how sometimes pictures can be quite deceiving and that everyone goes through rough patches no matter how perfect their life seems. A few hours later I received a message that read, “you have such a beautiful family, how do you guys make it work being young parents?” If you’re new here and didn’t know, I’m 24 and Anthony just turned 26. We had our firstborn while in college, five days before my 21st birthday. I immediately deleted it (which isn’t like me because I respond to everyone), but I was angry. Angry, because what she didn’t know was that, that little family she thought was beautiful felt was in a very unstable space and my life felt like it was falling apart.

I had come to the realization that we had lost ourselves in parenting and careers, we got comfortable in our relationship and we were paying the consequences and almost called it quits. Tears were shed, things were said, and after a few days of thinking things out, none of us were ready to give up six years and separate the family we created. We talked about a few things we could do to better for our relationship and one of them being present at the moment with our girls, and making each other a priority.

We tend to put a lot in life first because its for the better of our future. But how do we enjoy the future if we aren’t present in the now? When we first talked about how we were going to move forward we decided to make each other a priority and leave for a weekend and focus on us. It was the first time that we were leaving the girls at the same time overnight where neither of us was with them. We went off to West Palm Beach and stayed a weekend at The Hilton West Palm Beach to enjoy each other’s company and loved it, it was everything we needed.

Our Hilton West Palm Staycation

We actually decided to plan another trip back with our girls a few weeks later and spend some family time us four, which we had not done since we moved back from Jacksonville, FL four months ago. If you are ever in the West Palm Beach area, the Hilton West Palm Beach is an amazing option for you and your family! From the restaurants, the pool activities, to the lobby aesthetic it was a dream!

We arrived on a Friday night and were welcomed by the sweetest valet employees who opened our doors and asked if we needed any help bringing our luggage to the room. We checked in and started our family getaway. We were welcomed into the room with the cutest Popcorn Party Snack tray that the girls and the hubs immediately dug into! We stayed in a King Size Bedroom Suite with a pull-out couch and the most perfect view of the city.

The City View room looks out to shops and restaurants walking to distance to the hotel for you and your family to enjoy. However, we never left the hotel. We didn’t have too. Both Friday and Saturday night we had dinner at The Galley which is the restaurant on site. Friday Night we enjoyed an outside dinner with a live band. Aaliyah loved the music and danced her night away, Alyssa did too. The band lead singer was the sweetest and came up to our table and danced and talked to the girls. If there’s anything that I can recommend from their menu, other than everything (seriously, SO good) I would definitely say try there Lobster Mac and Cheese. We ordered one as our appetizer and then ended up ordering a second one because it was delicious.

Saturday & Sunday morning we woke up and had breakfast (they also offer brunch on Saturdays from 11:30am -4pm) at The Manor on site. They have indoor and outdoor seating, giving you options! Who doesn’t like options? haha. The first day we had breakfast, we ate outside because I’m a breakfast/dinner outside view kind of girl. Both days are waiter & waitress were the sweetest. They brought anything we needed even went above and beyond getting Alyssa pen and paper so that she could draw. For breakfast, you have the option of eating from their menu or their breakfast buffet. I ate from the buffet and Anthony ordered off the menu, the food was delicious. Their breakfast buffet was filled with cereal, bread options (bagels, croissants, toast, etc.), eggs, potatoes, fruits, create your own omelet bar & more. If it wasn’t at the bar I was able to order it and they would bring it right out (I had to order Alyssa some pancakes).

During our stay there we spent most of our time by the pool, Alyssa’s favorite part. My girl loves anything involving water. The Pool is a beach entry pool that provides a long, slow gradual entry to the pool do it having a slight slope, which is amazing when you have little ones. Alyssa loved this because she was able to play freely (with floaties) at the entrance of the pool without us telling her not to move the entire time she was in the water. The Pool area also has a pool bar where you can get drinks & food, as well as waiters and waitress that walk around so you can place an order and have your food brought out to you. It was so convenient because with little ones it gets hard to rally them all up to walk to the pool bar to get food because they hate their fun being interrupted. In addition, to the pool bar, you can find outdoor yard games that you can play with your family like connect four, and corn hole. FamilyFamilyFamilyOn Saturdays, they have a DJ that plays music in the pool area which we enjoyed because we love to sit by the pool and listen to music while enjoying each other’s company. Aaliyah thoroughly loved it and danced poolside from the pool chair the entire time we were there. There’s seriously something to do poolside for everyone.
